In other words, opening the Pandora’s Box of mobile testing and development is not for the faint of heart. But for those courageous souls who have dedicated their lives (or at least careers) to mastering the art and science of software quality assurance, let’s continue with a closer look at five of the biggest challenges facing QA testers of, say, native apps. (While we’re focusing on testers in this article, it’s good to bear in mind that the majority of developers, especially on agile production teams, also perform testing throughout the mobile-app production cycle—around 72% of them, according to our survey.)
How do they pay? Most apps have a wide variety of payment methods. However, I’ve run into a few that only have one form of payment. For example, some apps only pay in physical products and don’t give out any sort of cash awards. If they give away rewards that you’re never going to use, you should probably turn away and look for an app that’s more worth your time.
Thanks for stopping by. No experience needed! All you need is the ability to navigate websites and be able to confidently speak your thoughts out loud. It’s a little tricky the first few times. But soon you’ll be a pro! The best chance of actually making some extra money as a usability tester, is to sign up for as many panels as possible. Some of them may require you to submit a short sample test just to make sure you’ve got what it takes 🙂
Swagbucks is by far one of my favorite small task apps out there, and it’s probably one of the most well-known. Their sign-up bonus tends to change quite a bit. As of recently, I’ve seen it fluctuate anywhere between $.50 cents and $5.
Receipt Hog. The Receipt Hog app is similar to the iBotta app but simpler to use. Essentially, it rewards you for snapping pictures of your grocery store receipts from your smartphone, as well as taking surveys on your shopping experience. You earn “coins,” which you can redeem for cash or donate to the charity of your choice. Does it sound too good to be true? It’s not, as the folks behind Receipt Hog make money by sharing gathered information with consumer brands. Your personal information stays anonymous and is not sold to third parties. (Available on iPhone and Android)
So, thinking along the lines of what do we already do, and how can it be used on the go? is a great place to start. Look for an area that will be a natural extension, or a macro view of what you do.
An example application testing project: ILL (International Learn Lab) is an application designed to help admin, publisher to create websites in collaboration. Using a web browser, instructors choose from a set of features to create a class that meets their requirements.
In this article, we’ll take a broad look at the state of mobile testing and development today, exploring its tremendous potential, its unique perils, and the exciting promise of what lies ahead in this continuously evolving field.
There’s also a huge variance in abilities when it comes to building apps. Consider the top chefs in the world compared to home cooks or an internationally renown pianist relative to the local piano teacher. Both groups have skills. One group has simply further honed and refined their craft. Both groups can probably learn a dish or a new piece respectively. One group will learn it faster but then also take more time to refine it into a masterpiece.

The more upfront work that can be done before starting the actual visual design and development of an app begins, the better. Despite the fact that Email Marketing is comparatively old technique, it can be quite powerful when it comes to monetizing apps. This strategy works best when you kindly ask user email during sign-in. And, as a result, get a possibility to consequently reach them with email notifications.
As uTest writes in their eBook on mobile testing, “Companies that recognize this trend for what it is—a technological revolution—and take preemptive action to make the quality, security and usability of their mobile applications top priority, will find themselves with a tremendous advantage.”
What I love about Clink (similar to Acorns) is that you can also link your credit card. Choose a percentage of your spending and set it aside for investing. For example, you can choose to have 10% of the total spent on dining out go toward your Clink account. They’re currently 100% free, but this may change in the near future. @Nick – very exciting! The first thing I’d do research exactly WHO your prospect user is, WHERE they hangout, and HOW you can convert them into an app user. Next, I would post a job on a service like upward.com to get an idea of how much this would cost. From there, you have the beginnings to start reaching out and talking to investors. Without knowing too much about your app…have you thought about partnering with influencers? We recently published a post that outlines how to find influencers and partner with an app. Here’s the read:
Sam — trials are not mandatory, but a choice for you as a developer.  Given the easy of creating them and their ability to attract so many more users, we do believe most developers will choose to offer them.
Since my day job is for an IT company, I can say that the tests I do with Tester Work helped me supplement my income by doing what I enjoy (testing) and secondly, some of the things that I have learned, while testing with GAT, I was able to then to my day job.
Had Nintendo put that price on the app itself, there’s a good chance it would have fallen flat on its face – many mobile users are completely unwilling to part with cash until they know that what they’re buying is quality software. Instead, Nintendo released a free app with, essentially, a paywall. Since users were already hooked, they were more than willing to stump up the money.
YouTube says there’s no formula to work out how much you’ll get, but thousands of people earn cash through it. While it shares the majority of ad revenue with partners, it said it was unable to tell us the exact percentage.
CashPirate is an application that turns points into cash. The registered users can test applications, participate in surveys, play games and invite other friends to join. 1000 points correspond to $1, which can be converted to buy items in the Play Store or be transferred to a PayPal account.
While there are certainly some good apps out there that have earned their rankings, it’s also true that many developers fabricate their figures. This is done to influence people to install their apps — whether paid or not — but then there’s no guarantee for the quality of the app.

You should clearly realize who you’re creating a mobile app for. Draw a user portrait and decide what functionality users need, how much time they’re likely to spend using your app, and so on. A clear picture of your target users allows you to create an app tailored to their needs.
